I'd love to hear how others use FL Studio in a live performance. I'm trying to do this for a few years now after I've been using FL Studio for years for regular music production.

There are still a few things I'm not sure how to deal with, the main things are:
1) Switching to the next song seamlessly.
I tried opening FL Studio twice, so I can load the next song during playback of the current song, but then only 1 instance has access to all midi controllers (which are essential in a live performance). My audio interface does support multi instances though (RME Digiface USB), which is great. Haven't actually tested this throughly, but I guess it is not really a good solution anyway..
Now I got a Deluge which is able to switch to the next song and send program changes to all my synths seamlessly, so I do all my sequencing on that. The only thing that is still a challenge is the mixer in FL Studio: I mix in FL Studio and use a lot of plugins. It would be so nice if it was possible to save/load multiple complete mixer states within 1 project and switch between them on the fly. I can imagine this is very hard to program though, but imagine the possibilities!
The only way to work around this is to use midi to change the mixer state manually. This is a lot of work though..

2) Live recording of midi in performance mode is not possible
I don't know why, but for some reasong while performance mode is activated, you cannot record any midi. This means, to 'live' perform, you have to pre-program all your sequences and sounds. There is no room for live improvisation or actual perform and loop. Only when performance mode is deactivated; which limits you to playback of 1 pattern at a time or just follow the playlist.

I'd love to hear others who are successfully performing using FL Studio, how they do it. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just switch to Ableton, but I just don't want to I tried to go completely DAWless, which was fun, but has its own downsides. I decided to crawl back out of that rabbithole But in the meantime, I fell into a new one..
